He is a distinguished Professor ofPhilosophy of Technology, and Co-director of the Design Lab at University ofTwente, Netherland. His research focuses on the philosophy ofhuman-technology relations, and aims to contribute to philosophical theory,ethical reflection, and practices of design and innovation. His publicationsinclude Moralizing Technology: Verbeek is a member of the Royal NetherlandsAcademy, Understanding and Designing the Morality of Things and What Things Do:Philosophical Reflections on Technology, Agency, and Design. Verbeek ischairperson of the UNESCO World Commission on the Ethics of Science andTechnology (COMEST) and member of the Supervisory Board of TNO (DutchOrganization for applied scientific research).
